Seton Family of Hospitals

Our organization is comprised of 5 major medical centers, two of which are Level I Trauma Centers, 2 community hospitals, 2 rural hospitals, a free-standing in-patient mental health facility, 3 primary care clinics and several health facilities that provide rehabilitation and medical care for well patients. Our 12,000 plus employees serve an 11-county population of 1.8 million people making us the leading provider of healthcare in central Texas.

With that said, it was imperative that Seton Family of Hospitals identify a web-enabled crisis information management system that could provide secure real-time information sharing to help our leadership teams make sound decisions quickly. We also wanted to have a system that could function for routine operations.

Seton chose Crisis Commander because it is user friendly, affordable, easy to maintain by our existing emergency management staff with access to technical support if we need it. We found it was easy to tailor to the conditions and policies of our facilities as well as allowing for remote access by authorized users located outside our LAN.

We have actually used Crisis Commander in two Regional Disaster Drills. Having Crisis Commander was truly beneficial on two levels; by having the contingency and mobilization plan templates established it took the guess work out of what to do and how to respond. Having the ability to capture the real-time information from the log and forum postings became invaluable when evaluating our response efforts and identifying issues for improvement. And finally, the Group Function allowed us to monitor the activity at each of our sites -being able to respond more timely and efficiently to bed availability, staffing needs, and supply issues.

Thank you for the opportunity to share with you the value that Seton Family of Hospitals has found in Crisis Commander.
